1. What Cookies Are, Why They Are Used and Similar Technologies
A cookie is a small text file saved to your browser or device when you visit a website. Cookies allow the site to recognise you, remember your preferences, maintain your session and measure the platform's performance.
We use cookies for the following purposes:
- Ensuring the platform's core functions and security,
- Remembering your session and preferences (such as language and country),
- Analysing the use and performance of the platform and detecting errors,
- Improving our services and enhancing content,
- Marketing and targeting activities, subject to your explicit consent.
Similar technologies: In addition to cookies, we may use technologies that serve similar functions:
- Local storage (local storage / session storage): Stores data in your browser to remember your preferences and session information. Similar local storage mechanisms are used in the mobile application.
- Pixels (web beacons): Small visual elements that measure whether a page has been viewed; generally used for analytics purposes.
- Software development kits (SDKs): Third-party components in the mobile application that process device/session information similarly to cookies.
In this policy, the term "cookie" also covers these similar technologies where applicable.
2. Cookie Categories and Their Purposes
We classify the cookies used on the platform into four categories according to their purposes.
| Category | Purpose | Consent Status | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly Necessary / Technical | Strictly required for the platform to function, for maintaining the session, security, load balancing and core features. Without these cookies, the platform will not work properly. | No consent required (necessary) | Session ID, login state, security/CSRF token, recording of cookie preferences, language/country selection |
| Performance / Analytics | Used to measure how visitors use the platform on an anonymous/aggregate basis, analyse page and video interactions, and detect errors and performance issues. | Subject to explicit consent | Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager (e.g. number of visits, session duration, video viewing metrics) |
| Functional | Provide non-essential convenience features; personalise the experience by remembering your preferences (such as appearance, saved filters, saved locations). | Subject to explicit consent | Interface/appearance preferences, recent searches, saved location preferences |
| Marketing / Targeting | Used to display content and advertising suited to your interests, measure campaign effectiveness and for remarketing. | Subject to explicit consent | Advertising/remarketing cookies, campaign interaction measurement |
All cookies other than Strictly Necessary / Technical cookies are activated only with your explicit consent.
3. Third-Party Cookies and Data Transfers
In addition to the cookies placed directly by us, the platform may also use cookies placed by third-party service providers.
For performance/analytics purposes, we use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. Data collected through these services may also be processed by Google LLC and stored on servers located abroad. When third-party cookies are used, the relevant data may be transferred abroad.
| Third party | Purpose | Information |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Analytics / Tag Manager) | Performance measurement and analytics | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
Non-essential third-party cookies are enabled only with your explicit consent. Under the KVKK, the transfer of personal data abroad is carried out provided that the conditions set out in the Law are met. For detailed information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
4. Explicit Consent, Cookie Preference Centre and Withdrawal of Consent
Under the KVKK, all cookies that are not necessary for the platform to function (the Performance/Analytics, Functional and Marketing/Targeting categories) are activated only on the basis of your explicit consent. Strictly Necessary / Technical cookies do not require consent, as they are essential for the platform's core functions.
Through the cookie preference centre (banner) presented to you on your first visit to our website, you can:
- Accept or reject non-essential cookie categories individually,
- Accept or reject all non-essential cookies collectively,
- Update your preferences or withdraw the consent you have given at any time.
When you withdraw your consent, the relevant non-essential cookies will not be activated going forward. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to the moment of withdrawal.
5. Managing and Deleting Cookies via Browser Settings
In addition to the cookie preference centre, you can also manage, block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to accept, block or delete cookies, as well as clear existing cookies stored on your device.
You can usually access the cookie settings of common browsers via the "Settings" → "Privacy and Security" menu (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, etc.). On mobile devices, you can manage your advertising identifier and tracking preferences through the operating system and application settings.
Please note that if you block Strictly Necessary / Technical cookies, some parts of the platform may not function properly.
6. Cookie Retention Periods
Cookies are considered under two headings according to their retention periods:
| Type | Description | Retention period |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookies | Valid for the duration of your browser session; deleted when you close the browser. | Deleted at the end of the session |
| Persistent cookies | Remain on your device for a certain period to remember your preferences on subsequent visits. | Varies by purpose; deleted upon expiry or manual deletion |
The retention period of each cookie is determined according to the purpose it serves and is limited to the period necessary, in accordance with the principle of proportionality required by the KVKK.
